EU confirms Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) is postponed 1 year due to COVID-19

During this period of COVID-19 pandemic, the EU parliament decided to postpone the date of application of the Medical Devices Regulation EU 745/2017 (MDR) 1 year which was due to be enforceable on 26 May 2020 and will replace the Medical Device Directive 93/42/EC (MDD).

The decision to postpone the MDR date of application was due to the potential impact on the MDR implementation due to the extraordinary circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
